School of Biosciences, IMS (University Courses Campus) Ghaziabad celebrated the International youth day on 12th August 2016, based on this year’s United Nation’s theme, “The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production”
The function was inaugurated by the Director, IMSUC, Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Dean, Dr. Pooja Rastogi extended her good wishes for the day. Dr. Abha Vashistha, Chairperson, School of Biosciences encouraged the students for helping poor people and made an appeal to contribute a bit to eradicate poverty.
A talk on this occasion providing the statistics and views on poverty in India and World was conducted by the students of School of Biosciences. Showcasing a documentary on the current scenario of poverty, the slums and the surveys was the highlight of the event. A slogan writing competition was also conducted based on the theme. The competition was judged by a panel of senior faculties from the department of Journalism and Management.
Priya Sharma, Ayushi Bajheria and Srashti Dwivedi secured Ist, IInd and III rd positions respectively in the slogan writing competition. The overwhelming participation of the faculty and students of the department made the event successful.
The entire event motivated the students in understanding their responsibilities towards the poor people and taking sufficient steps to uproot this evil from the society.
